Interview with Indie Outlook’s Matt Fagerholm

The coming week is a big one for Cool Apocalypse, my debut feature film from 2015. It is being released on DVD by Emphasis Entertainment Group on Tuesday, August 30. I’m proud of the 73-minute “director’s commentary” track that I recorded for this release and I hope that everyone who’s enjoyed the movie will have the chance to listen to it. Also, the film will screen twice this week as part of the Chicago Park District’s invaluable “Movies in the Parks” series (on Wednesday, August 31 at Palmer Square Park in Logan Square and Friday, September 2 at Pulaski Park in Wicker Park). I’ll be at both shows.

To promote the DVD release and screenings, I was recently interviewed by Indie Outlook/RogerEbert.com’s Matt Fagerholm. This interview, in which I talk not only about Cool Apocalypse but my book Flickering Empire, my forthcoming feature Mercury in Retrograde and the microbudget filmmaking scene in Chicago in general, is the lengthiest I have ever given. It was an honor to be interviewed by a great critic like Matt and I think this is a fun read. Check it out: https://indie-outlook.com/2016/08/12/michael-glover-smith-on-cool-apocalypse/
