Those Cremaster films always looked creepy yet boring to me. Do you like them?

I was indeed both creeped out and bored. I saw them in 35mm at the Siskel Center but wasn’t sufficiently interested to see the rest in the series. The problem is that Barney, as a filmmaker, doesn’t have much of an interest in form. He wants to show you remarkable images but he’s much more interested in what he puts in front of the camera rather than how he captures it.

    Good stuff.

Caught Gatsby, Star Trek, and Mud these past couple weeks.

Gatsby was pretty good – despite what some critics are saying, it follows the novel precisely.

    Mud was great.
