I had never seen The Illusionist before but you are correct that I loved it. I think it is one of the best animated films I’ve seen in recent years – gorgeous to look at and a charming, deliciously bittersweet story. I’m a huge fan of Jacques Tati (who wrote the original script long ago) and was worried that it would somehow dishonor his legacy but I think Chomet, the director, did pretty much everything right.

Yeah, I also really liked I Saw the Devil. Most of my favorite films of recent years have come out of S. Korea.

Ha! Yeah, Audition slipped by me. Ugh. It’s sacrilege! I’m working on it though. It’s in my Netflix Queue currently. Many seem to really hold it in high regard. Have you seen I Saw The Devil?

I can’t believe that YOU, the horror movie man, have not yet seen Audition! It’s my favorite horror film of the past twenty years. Try not to read anything about it before you watch it though.
