Hell, are there any great musicals after the 1960s? I think the problem is that today there are no longer any movie stars who are known primarily for dancing or singing. When they make musicals now they have to take movie stars known for acting and train them to sing and dance.

It has become a personal goal to try and take every class I teach on a field trip to a movie theater. I started doing this recently because, unfortunately, a lot of young people only stay home and download/stream movies and don’t know the pleasures of the big screen experience. My hope is to try and get some of them into the habit.
